When naming my fine jewellery brand, I aimed to capture its essence perfectly, so I took my time to ensure it reflected the brand's values and identity. The name "Namiri", pronounced “nah-MEE-ree”, holds a special significance for me beyond its phonetic appeal. It carries a meaningful connection to East Africa, a place that has deep sentiment in my life. In Swahili, "Namiri" translates to "Big Cat, " which inspired our brand motif. Interestingly, my inspiration stemmed from an ebony wood carving of a big cat on my desk—a souvenir from a trip to East Africa.
Big cats, especially female ones, embody a captivating blend of characteristics: strength, vulnerability, self-assuredness, grace, fierceness, and gentleness. These qualities mirror the multifaceted and complex nature of femininity. Namiri, drawing inspiration from these majestic creatures, celebrates this complexity through our jewellery designs and branding. Each piece serves as a tangible expression of the nuanced facets of femininity, capturing the essence of strength, grace, and resilience that define women in all their diversity and complexity. Our pieces effortlessly blend delicate and robust, effortlessness and intention, luxury and attainability. Namiri invites you to embrace all aspects of your inner Big Cat and femininity and carry yourself with a strong sense of self—whatever that may entail.
