When naming my fine jewellery brand, I wanted a name that sounded strong phonetically and carried deep meaning. It needed to reflect the brand’s values while also drawing from my own life. “Namiri” (pronounced nah-MEE-ree) comes from Swahili, where it translates to “Big Cat.” The name is deeply personal, inspired by an ebony carving on my desk from a trip to East Africa, a place with great significance in my life.
Big cats, especially females, embody strength, grace, and resilience, yet also vulnerability and gentleness. To me, they mirror the complexity of femininity itself. Namiri draws on this duality, creating jewellery that is both delicate and robust, effortless and intentional. Each piece reflects that balance, celebrating permanence, clarity, and quiet strength.
At its heart, Namiri is a celebration of self — of femininity in all its multifaceted forms.
